MIZU, the new ceramic lamp from Marocha.
Mizu (水) literally means “water” in Japanese. In the context of Japanese culture, philosophy and design, the word goes far beyond its physical definition and holds deep meanings that perfectly match the aesthetic of this lamp:
- Fluidity and Adaptability. In Eastern philosophy, water represents the ability to adapt to any shape without losing its essence. The lamp's wavy, irregular form evokes precisely that fluid, free and natural motion of flowing water.
- Purity and Calm. The term is linked to tranquility, mental clarity and purification.
- One of the Five Elements (Godai) In Japanese tradition, the universe is made up of five elements, with Mizu representing all that is fluid and formless and the ever-changing nature of the world. It is associated with creativity, flexibility and the ability to flow with one's surroundings. For all these reasons, I present MIZU: organic design, serenity and the minimalist elegance of a light fixture.
